This EL of 482km 2 is located north of the Cadia/Ridgeway operations on the Molong Rise. There are a number of previously worked gold and copper-gold mines on this E.L.
The immediate target here is for structurally controlled epithermal gold/narrow high-grade gold vein systems and for porphyry copper - gold mineralisation with Ordovician and Silurian age lithologies of similar type to others in the region such as Cadia/Ridgeway and Northparkes deposits. Quartz - magnetite - chalcopyrite style mineralisation is a viable target. Many targets on this E.L. remain untested, particularly for monzodiorite intrusive related gold mineralisation. Potential for �blind� Cadia-Ridgeway type deposits at depth may occur within the several magnetic anomalies existing within the E.L.
Drill targets would be determined for the discovery of high-grade epithermal gold systems and for porphyry copper-gold deposits similar to Cadia/Ridgeway.
Importantly a number of mineralised skarns are related to old mines here associated with acid volcanics extending over 1000's of metres. The mines at Pine Hill - Gumble - Delayneys Dyke on this E.L. contain economic gold in skarn (and Cu-Zn-Sn-Bi-Fe-Ag) with the lode at Delayneys being 8m x 73m. This is a similar mineralised environment as at the Browns Creek Au Deposit to the S.E.
Within this E.L. the Catombal Creek disseminated Cu district SSW of Wellington extends from Owens Shaft south for 25km. It consists of volcanics, tuff and agglomerate and represents the remnants of an andesitic volcano. This Cadumble Formation contains a number of mainly untested copper prospects concordant in tuffs and discordant in lavas
Exploration Programme
Previous drilling will be reassessed, drill core sampled and core examined for magma of high K variety (shoshonite). Grid based soil geochemical analysis across structures and magnetic anomalies will be systematically carried out. Interpretation of all data with preparation of plans showing zones of potential target, e.g. skarns will be carried out to define targets for R.C. drilling of anomalies/prospects.
