This EL also associated with the Mt. Boppy Mine covers 274 km ² and includes a number of previously worked mines located in Cobar Supergroup/Girilambone rocks . There are a number of untested magnetic and geochemical anomalies that have been identified.
Mt. Boppy, previously no. 2 gold producer in N.S.W. is located to the north of this EL on the same structure and geological formation as contained in this tenement. The prospects in this EL are of same derivation as the Mt. Boppy Mines. Hera Deposit at Nymagee, a recent discovery is located to the SW of this E.L.
Exploration to date has revealed some excellent prospects:-
The Glengarry Gossan over 140 metres gave up to 15.0g/tAu and high Ag, Zn;
The Herald Mine in dacite and feldspar porphyry gave up to 9.6g/tAu and high Ag & Pb
Rankins Prospect in skarn recorded anomalous Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni and Co
The Box Tank workings on a prominent photo lineament over 4km long and 300m wide yielded anomalous values in Cu, Au, Pb.
Other mines and prospects are located within and on the edge of a major eruption centre in siliceous volcanics and tuffs.
The targets here are for Au/base metal deposits on the contact of Girilambone Beds/ Baledmund Formation as at Mt. Boppy; Cu/pyrite magnetite quartz lodes as at Girilambone/Tottenham/Canbelego South; and quartz breccia lode with gold, base metals as at Mt. Boppy/massive sulphide Pb-Zn-Cu with trace Au/Sb extensive dolomite silica alteration.
Exploration Programme
With similar geology and potential to the Pooraka area, exploration planned will be of similar style and will utilise magnetics as a primary tool for location of drill targets. These will initially be evaluated with a combination of systematic RAB/LAG/soil sampling that may be the most expedient method to test prospective structures for Au deposits. As this area is under explored a new low level 50-100m line spaced aero magnetics survey may be carried out.
The proposed expenditure budget for Mt. Barrow is set out below.
